Width Adjustment: A small thumbscrew on the side of the attachment is loosened to slide the guide left or right, setting the desired width of the finished hem (3/16 inch to 15/16 inch).
Hemming Process:
- Prepare fabric: Fold and finger-press a small initial section of the fabric edge twice, to the approximate width of the foot's opening
- Insert fabric: Slide the prepared fabric edge under the foot and guide it into the scroll/funnel
- Set machine: Use straight stitch only (zigzag is not compatible with this foot)
- Sew: As you sew, the scroll automatically turns the raw edge over twice, enclosing the edge within the fold
- Stitch in place: The needle stitches the hem along the inner fold
